The Value of a Photographer

What is the value of a photographer?  What is a good photograph worth to you?

When you seek out a surgeon do you simply find one with a scalpel?  Is that the value of that doctor?  Is his/her worth tied up in the cost of a single piece of equipment or is it based on the combination of years of training, experience, and equipment?

From Start to Finish

The Nature Photography Show is starting a new on-going series on our YouTube Channel.  This series takes some of our favorite images and walks you through the thought process of the capture and then how it was finished in post processing.  Take a look and let us know what you think!

Nikon 180-400 f/4

Nikon announced a new lens on Tuesday 1/09.  The AF-S NIKKOR 180-400mm f/4E TC1.4 FL ED VR is a gold series NIKKOR lens that is a wildlife photographers dream.  This lens comes with a 1.4 teleconverter built in so all you need to do if you need the extra reach is just flip the T.C. into place.

Nikon 80-400mm f4.5-5.6 AF-S

The Nikon 80-400mm f4.5-5.6 AF-S is supposed to be an update of their older model.  However, this lens is much more than an update.  It is seemingly a full redesign on the inside with only minor tweaks to the outside.  If you are looking for a reasonably priced telephoto lens that will allow you to reach 400mm then this is the way to go.

Back Button Focus

Have you ever heard of using the back button to focus on your DSLR?  It seemed very odd and foreign to me when I first heard of this.  With my finger already depressing the shutter ½ way down to focus it was easy to actuate the shutter.  The thought of adding an extra step in how I shoot make very little sense to me.  Still, I kept hearing about this back button focus thing.  So I decided to give it a try.  Here is what I discovered

Great Smoky Mountain Photography Summit 2017

This year will be the 3rd annual Great Smoky Mountains Photography Summit, which by all accounts, has been amazing.  The event is from November 1st to the 5th and has some of the biggest names in landscape/nature photography.  Some of those names include Bill Fortney, Bill Lea, Mandy Lea, RC Concepcion, Vinny Colucci, Tony Sweet, and more.  While my schedule is not going to allow me to attend if you have ever wanted to see the Smokies in the Fall this would be the time to go and with the people to go with.
