The Nature Photography Show is an Authorized Permittee of the National Park Service

Dante’s View, Death Valley, California

Death Valley was given its name by a group of pioneers who happened to lose their way in the winter of 1849-1850.  They were rescued and as they were climbing out of the valley over the Panamint Mountains one of the men turned, looked back at the valley and said, “Goodbye, Death Valley.”

Now Death Valley is an amazing National Park, the largest in the lower 48. Join Beth and I as we chase the light and do our very best to ensure no one ends up like our unlucky Pioneers.

With its exquisite textures and varied landscapes, there are many new photographic experiences for you to explore. We will shoot Zabriskie Point, Mesquite Dunes, Badwater Basin, Dante’s View and other unique locations. Other opportunities will present themselves as we travel through the park. There will be classroom sessions to review your images, reinforce photography techniques, and practice post-processing skills for the best possible results.

We hope you will join us on this one-of-a-kind workshop in a one-of-a-kind location!

Wednesday night, January 22nd, we will all meet in the hotel conference room set aside for the Nature Photography Show.  This will be for an orientation and to go over the itinerary for the following three days as well as get a sense of what each of you is looking for out of the workshop.

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday will be filled, sunrise to sunset, with photographic opportunities as we explore Death Valley.  We have chosen our dates based on a New Moon so expect some night photography as well.  Each day there will be an opportunity to look at what you have captured and receive post processing instruction.  Finally, after photographing sunrise one last time on January 26th we will meet for a recap and breakfast as we conclude the workshop.
